BAE systems is launching a racing drone in the United States in 2018, the company announced Tuesday.
The company’s first drone, the BAE Racing Drone, will compete in the International Formula One Grand Prix at the Daytona Beach International Speedway on Feb. 24.BAE has not announced how many people will be able to fly the drone.
The company also said the drone will have an altitude of 400 feet, and will be powered by an advanced lithium ion battery.
Boeing is the main drone maker in the U.S., and has developed several drones.
Boesch says the Bae Racing Drone will be capable of speeds up to 60 miles per hour.
The drone will be built on a platform that is lightweight, light, and flexible, the companies said.
Bae is also developing a drone that can fly in space, as well as drones that are remotely piloted.
