Kyle Larson Racing has confirmed it is considering a return to racing the KTM Redline R6 on the 2017-18 season.
The Dutchman, who will make his KTM debut at the 2018 Indianapolis 500, has said he is keen to make a return as a top-tier factory racer and will not hesitate to take the leap if he can win the next race in his native country.
“I’m very interested in racing,” Larson told Motorsport.com.
“I’m happy to be here and I’d love to be a part of something like this.”
It’s something that’s on my mind and I’m not sure yet whether or not I’ll be back racing.
“My team, which I’m in, is working hard to get back as a factory team and we will see.”
Larson has also hinted at the possibility of racing in Europe next year, but the plan has yet to be finalised.
“We’ll see how the season goes,” he said.
“There’s a lot of things that we’re going to work on.
I don’t know how many races I’ll do next year.
I’m really looking forward to racing.”KTM Racing has announced that it will continue with its Redline RC6, which was built by Redline Racing, the team that made the KLRX and KLR.
The RC6 has been used in racing in the US, the UK and Germany.
“For the future, it will be more of a full-time thing for me,” Larson said.
“The KTM team and the team I work for are very good and we’ll see what happens with the Redline program.
We’ll see where that goes and we’re very happy to continue with it.”
Lamborghini’s 2017-2018 championship leader has said the brand has a plan to return to action this year.
“This year we are working on the future of Lamborghini, which we’ll continue with, and I think we’ll get a better understanding of what’s going on in the world of racing,” he told Motorsport, adding that the brand’s involvement with the sport in the future will depend on its progress on the international circuit.
“With the success of the 2017 championship, we have a lot to work with,” Lamborghinis team boss Roberto Baldini added.
“That’s one of the reasons why we’re looking forward with all our energy towards this year, and hopefully we can come back with more results than what we had this year.”
The Redline Redline was first introduced to the world in the 1960s.
The sport was launched in 1969 as a direct response to the growing popularity of Formula One, which had taken a back seat to the more glamorous motorsport of Formula Three.
Since then, Redline has been a staple of the sport’s calendar.
It’s currently one of only two Formula One cars to win 24 consecutive races and its drivers have won the world championships in five of the last six seasons.
“From our first season, the Redlines have been the engine of our team,” said Baldini.
“The Redlines were a real hit in the F1 world, they were a true joy to drive and the Redliners have continued to perform at a high level.”
Lacestron has confirmed the company is working on a new car, which it says will “go back to the essence of a racetrack and make it a race car” with its 2017-19 lineup.
“There are some ideas to introduce the concept of a true race car in 2018, and we hope to have it to racing in 2020,” said the sports car manufacturer.
“Our goal is to bring a new Redline to the FIM next year and then to the IMSA (International Motor Sport Council) next year.”LAC has been looking to change its racing presence, with it looking to focus on its factory racing program.
“A lot of the development work that we’ve done for the last three or four years has been focused on the factory racing programs in the USA and Europe,” said Lacestron team manager Robert Wengert.
“Now we are looking to bring that back to Formula One.”
